Greenwich is where East meets West, and home to the Prime Meridian – an invisible line that runs through the very ground. The Royal Observatory is where Greenwich Mean Time was born, and it’s been guiding explorers, scientists and seafarers ever since.
Now, 350 years on, this iconic institution has been honoured on a UK £2 coin.
A Design Packed with Symbolism
Created by renowned designer Henry Gray, the reverse design of the 2025 Royal Greenwich Observatory £2 is a treasure trove for collectors.
Here’s what you’ll spot:
- The Shepherd Gate Clock – one of the world’s first public displays of Greenwich Mean Time.
- Ursa Minor and Polaris – the constellation and star used for celestial navigation across centuries.
- The Prime Meridian on a globe – marking the division between East and West.
- And along the edge, the words: “PERFECTING THE ART OF NAVIGATION” – a phrase taken from the Observatory’s founding Royal Warrant.
Every detail speaks to the Observatory’s unmatched contribution to science, timekeeping, and navigation.

Celebrate the 20th Wedding Anniversary of King Charles III and Queen Camilla
On 9th April 2025, we celebrate a significant milestone in the history of the British Royal Family — the 20th Wedding Anniversary of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Their enduring partnership, which began officially in 2005, has become a cornerstone of the modern monarchy. To honour this landmark occasion, a specially curated collection of commemorative coins and covers has been released, showcasing royal elegance and craftsmanship.

A Royal Wedding with a Twist of History… resulting in an error.
Originally scheduled for 8th April 2005, the royal wedding was unexpectedly postponed due to Prince Charles attending the funeral of Pope John Paul II. The ceremony ultimately took place on 9th April, but by then the Royal Mail had already issued a Miniature Stamp Sheet marked with the original wedding date. This rare philatelic detail is now a part of the anniversary collection — a historical quirk that adds both charm and collector’s value to the commemorative items.
The Design: Elegance and Tribute
At the heart of the collection is a beautiful coin design featuring a dual effigy of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. It is detailed with the original wedding date, the anniversary year, denomination, and the inscription “20th Wedding Anniversary.” This harmonious design captures both their regal stature and the sentiment of the occasion.

A Collector’s Crown Jewel – Honouring Six Generations of the Monarchy
Six monarchs. One extraordinary coin.
There’s something special about holding a coin that tells a story — not just one moment in time, but an entire legacy. That’s exactly what you get with the brand-new 2025 Legacy of the Crown Silver 5oz Coin. It’s not just beautiful to look at — it’s rich in history, carefully crafted, and seriously rare.
Struck from five ounces of pure 99.99% silver (that’s the Royal Canadian Mint’s world-famous “four nines” standard), this coin is finished to an immaculate Proof quality that really makes every detail pop. And with its large 65.25mm diameter, you can fully appreciate the artistry on display.
But what truly sets this coin apart is the design. For the first time ever, all six monarchs who’ve appeared on Canadian coinage since Confederation are featured together on a single coin. That includes:
From Queen Victoria — who was on the throne when Canada officially became a country in 1867 — right through to King Charles III, whose effigy now appears on new Canadian coins, this coin takes you on a journey through time. Each portrait represents a unique chapter in Canada’s royal and national story.
You might notice one monarch is missing — King Edward VIII. That’s because his reign was so short (just 326 days) that no Canadian coins were ever issued with his likeness. A little detail, but one that makes this piece all the more historically accurate.
With just 1,900 coins available worldwide, this is a very limited release — even rarer than the popular 2025 Maple Leaves in Motion 5oz coin, which sold out quickly. And considering the buzz around this one, it’s expected to sell out even faster.

The coin is available exclusively in the UK from The Westminster Collection, you can spread the cost with 10 monthly instalments of £69.50 (+p&p). It arrives in a premium presentation case, ready to be the centrepiece of any collection.
So whether you’re into royal history, Canadian heritage, or simply appreciate incredible craftsmanship, this is a coin that ticks every box. It’s not just something to collect — it’s something to keep, treasure, and pass on.
